8th BLOOOM Award by Warsteiner - Review
“It’s getting hot in the Cosby sweater!” Exploring the interaction between race and performance, this extraordinary video by Julian Harper, a young American artist from Provo, Utah, is the winner of the 2017 BLOOOM Award by Warsteiner.
With more than 2,300 entries from over 90 countries, 2017 was another record-setting year for Germany’s largest open art competition. The ten best works were on display in a special BLOOOM exhibition during the ART Düsseldorf Fair, where on November 19 in a public award ceremony the winners were announced. The special prize for the newly added best music video category went to Michael Klich from Germany for his work “Hallo Frosch” (“Hello Frog”).
Now in its 8th year, the BLOOOM Award by Warsteiner is a great example of Warsteiner’s commitment to the arts.
It provides young creative minds with a platform to introduce their works to a broader audience, while its prizes offer a foothold in the competitive, international art market. The first place winner will enjoy an exclusive one-year mentoring program and a mentored trip to Art Basel Miami Beach. The runner-up will be rewarded with a gallery exhibition and a trip to the Art Paris Art Fair, and the third-place winner receives a one-day mentoring session.
