KLM OPEN 2015 – A Review

The 49th KLM Open certainly lived up to its reputation as one of Europe’s premier golf events with over 45.000 visitors last weekend. Held last weekend at the gorgeous Kennemer Golf Club in the Dutch resort town of Zaandvort, the tournament saw world-class golf action that appeared destined for a play-off round until the young Belgian pro, Thomas Pieters, pulled out a 2-stroke victory ahead of the Spaniard Eduardo De La Riva.

But our favorite highlight happened earlier on day three, when the record for most hole-in-ones in a European Tour season was broken – not once, but twice!
First, Magnus Carlsson carded the record-breaking 40th hole-in-one of the season. But his triumph was short-lived. An hour later, and in full view of the Warsteiner beer garden and bar where a crowd of golf enthusiasts were following the action while enjoying our premium beers, the Australian Wade Ormsby aced the 11th hole – the Warsteiner hole! You can just imagine the celebration that followed!

Acing the Warsteiner hole comes with a prize, and it’s a big one! One year of free Warsteiner Premium Pilsener for Wade Ormsby! Our hero was all smiles: “If I am a beer drinker? I’m an Australian, I have plenty of friends at home who can help me with this stock!”

As official sponsor of the KLM Open, Warsteiner looks back on a fantastic weekend. With the help of our beautiful Warsteiner golf buggy in the Warsteiner village, we proudly presented our newest addition, Warsteiner Double Hopped, which was thoroughly embraced and enjoyed by the crowd!

Our thanks go to Raymond van Mil. His entire photoshoot can be seen here
