Summer Time Means Festival Time
The Dutch kicked off their summer festival season with the Lente Kabinet. This 1-day event, now in its 4th year and organized by the same crew as the Dekmantel Festival, took over the beautiful Het Twiske fair grounds near Amsterdam on the last Saturday in May.
With its easy-going, friendly vibe, this gem of a festival, sometimes called the Dekmantel’s little sister, offered an eclectic mix of contemporary electronic music staged at four locations throughout the park with music lovers from all walks of life coming together to celebrate music, art and culture in a magical, bucolic setting. Warsteiner, with its freshly tapped beverages, was in great demand quenching the thirst of fans taking a breather from dancing, relaxing in comfy hammocks or catching up with friends under a shady tree. While the Lente Kabinet provided the perfect warm-up for this year’s series, the summer party continues with two events on June 27, the Nomads Festival in Amsterdam and the Expedition Festival in Rotterdam, before moving to the Lost & Sound Festival also held in Rotterdam on July 25, and, of course, culminating with the 3-day tour-de-force, the legendary Dekmantel Festival in Amsterdam on July 30 through August 2.
