WARSTEINER joining “F E” Audi Team – A Review
Action-packed and wildly entertaining, the inaugural race of FIA’s Formula E last Saturday in Beijing was a huge success! Ten teams with two drivers each made their debut in front of a global audience, showcasing the amazing performance of the all-electric cars in dramatic, heart-stopping fashion.
About 75,000 spectators flocked to the Olympic Park in Beijing for a day of racing festivities as a pack of sleek race cars took to the course at dizzying speeds. By comparison, only 52,000 fans came to watch the Formula One Grand Prix at the Nürburgring on Sunday. Globally, this very first Formula E race attracted an impressive 40 million TV viewers, while millions more followed the exciting action on social media – and not just because of Nick Heidfeld’s spectacular crash in the very last minute that catapulted the race into the Top Ten headlines of sports media worldwide. The reaction to the race was overwhelmingly positive: These cars are the real deal, going from 0-60 miles per hour in under 3 seconds while being carbon-free!
As a proud sponsor and official global “Team Partner” of the German Audi Sport ABT Formula E team, WARSTEINER had plenty to celebrate: The Brazilian Lucas di Grassi, one of the two drivers of the Audi Sport ABT team, snatched first place in this historic Formula E season opener.
His teammate, Daniel Abt, secured a respectable twelfth place. With cameras zeroing in on the winning team, the WARSTEINER brand name and logo was prominently displayed on both race cars and in the Audi Sport ABT pit, making quite a splash at this ground-breaking event.
This new Formula E championship highlights race cars exclusively powered by electric energy, creating a winning combination of technological trailblazing, motorsport passion and environmental sustainability. In short, it’s a perfect match for WARSTEINER – picking up again its decades long tradition of sponsoring various motorsport events including Formula One, and merging it with its passion for innovation, and its commitment to sustainability.
WARSTEINER is looking forward to an exciting Formula E season – a 10-race international circuit held in ten of the world’s most exciting metropolitan areas and supported by concerts and other festivities. The next race is scheduled for November 22, 2014, in Putrajaya, Malaysia. Drivers, start your engines!
