KLM OPEN 2014

Joost Luiten’s sensational victory in 2013 clearly had an effect on this year’s event, if the crowded grandstands and packed promo village were anything to go by. From 11 to 14 September, over 50,000 visitors enjoyed the world-class golf on display, although there was no joy for the home nation this year, with England’s Paul Casey winning the 2014 Dutch Open. And for the third time in a row, Warsteiner was the official sponsor of the KLM Open, so let’s look back on four wonderful days of excellent golf!

Just like last year, the KLM Open was held at the Kennemer Golf & Country Club in Zandvoort. We could be found at various spots around the course, including the Warsteiner Lounge Deck at hole 11 and our Premium Biergarten at hole 15, where spectators could enjoy a refreshing glass of Warsteiner.

On the first day, there was thunderous applause from the green at hole 11, the Warsteiner hole, when Englishman James Heath hit a hole-in-one, leaving the crowd begging for more. Scotland’s Richie Ramsay was happy to oblige, creating another sensation by doing the same thing the next day. Both players were rewarded for their achievements with a year’s supply of Warsteiner Premium Pils.

On Friday evening, Warsteiner kept the golf going well into the night, with the KLM Open ‘Neary by Night’ event taking over the driving range. LED lighting in the shape of a Warsteiner tulip glass illuminated the golf course while participants tried to hit the glow-in-the-dark golf balls as close as possible to the flag. The evening finished with a party in the promo village.

What more can we say? The 95th edition of the KLM Open exceeded all our expectations and was full of surprises!
