NOMADS FESTIVAL
One day, 4000 nomads and three stages: it began with a camel making its way through the streets of Amsterdam and culminated in a 13-hour long festival of classic house music, with tepees, colourful carpets and shisha pipes setting the scene. At the 2014 Nomads Festival, now in its second year, the crowd danced to the greatest hits from the 1990s and 2000s. House music pioneers Kerri Chandler, Robert Owens, Chez Damier and Marshall Jefferson were just some of the musicians DJing on the day. Nomads also provided a platform for Amsterdam’s young up-and-coming talent, with these local heroes playing on the special Tipi stage.
The festival’s founders have capitalised on the fact that everyone travels nowadays, sampling different cultures and never staying in one place for long, and decided to organise a festival for this new “Nomads 2.0” generation. “The line-up focuses on house music, and particularly on house from Chicago and Detroit, or ‘Classic House’ as it’s often called. Nomads attracts a like-minded, friendly crowd who come together to party.
What’s great is that everybody works together and there’s a general feeling of mutual generosity and goodwill.” – Nomads organiser, Samuel Taselaar.
Warsteiner was part of the rapidly growing ‘nomads family’ on the day too and has put together a great selection of photos from the event. Check out our Facebook page and view the Nomads Festival album.
