EXPEDITION FESTIVAL 2014

And what an expedition it was! Dancing in the great outdoors, hanging out in a tree house, and relaxing on the Warsteiner Wall – anything was possible at the Expedition Festival on Saturday 28 June. There were big names like Fritz Kalkbrenner, Carl Craig and Kaytranada on the decks and the different stages were hosted by Jazzpodium Bird, Clone Records and Pip den Haag. There was even a debut performance: this was Boiler Room’s first trip to Rotterdam! Expedition is an intimate Rotterdam gathering, a voyage of discovery close to home – you could even call it a one-day holiday.

The concept was born from a love of music and of Rotterdam. Festival organiser Revolt created Expedition to cater for the area’s young people. “Good music in a beautiful location and a relaxed atmosphere. The view, the surroundings – it’s all perfect. The musical focus is on house music, but we cover a really broad spectrum. We’re not afraid to push the boundaries of this genre, with acts like Kaytranada for example. The setting should be an extension of the surroundings: green, natural and organic. The event partners are on board with this too.” – Revolt owner, Aziz Yagoub.

WARSTEINER WALL

This new collaboration is Warsteiner’s first foray into Rotterdam. We always aim to offer a high level of quality but we also like to go that one step further, and we convey this in all our activities. Together with the Expedition organisers and several Rotterdam artists, we created the Warsteiner Wall, a Rotterdam work of art and a living room rolled into one, where you could relax on a sofa, put your feet up on a table and, with a unique, ice-cold Warsteiner Art Bottle in your hand, enjoy a great view of the stage.

Warsteiner will soon be launching its new Art Collection. Six international artists with a passion for both gallery and street art let their creativity loose on a beer bottle to create the Warsteiner Art Collection. Warsteiner granted festival goers a sneak preview of the first two bottles at Expedition. You didn’t have to queue at the bar to get a beer here either – everyone on the Wall was served by a Warsteiner Waiter.

Expedition has only just ended and we’re already looking forward to the next event. You’ll also find us at the Lost & Sound Festival on 26 July! To be continued…
